What is a prefelt?
A prefelt is a piece of slightly felted wool that has just begun to felt, when the process is ended. The fibres at the surface of the wool have begun to interlock but only loosely, and the fibres in the middle have not at all. The piece has not shrunk or thickened (a process known as fulling the felt).
Prefelt can be cut into shapes and used as inlays in your surface design. Prefelts also provide a quick way to create a base layer for felting projects. Prefelt can also be used as quilt batting.
